Instructional Design

The design process on this project was limited as the basics had already been decided by the scenario’s client.  I solidified learning objectives, filled holes in the storyboard, turned the desired assessment topic into a planned assessment, and located supplemental resources.

eLearning Development

I began by creating asset templates and a style guide to use throughout the project for uniformity and aesthetic appeal.

After the script was finalized, scenes were built in Articulate Storyline, which served as the software utilized for this product.  Graphics were both found and developed within Articulate Storyline.  Audio, video, and assets were compiled, then interactions, navigations, and triggers were added as appropriate to make the best learning experience possible.

The instructor wanted a quiz for the assessment.  I took my assessment design and developed the interactive style of questioning into the module to increase engagement & likelihood for retention. Prescriptive feedback for the assessment is one way this product demonstrates a personalized learning experience.  Another way I personalized the learning is programming the learner’s name throughout the module.

The process saw several drafts, each revised after review.

Project Results & Takeaways

This eLearning module provides engaging and personalized instruction.

This module is ready to be used by an instructor and their learners. While the intended audience is younger than my professional goals, this project demonstrates my versatility and transferable skills, showing that I can create for a wide variety of clients and purposes.   This project greatly developed my Articulate Storyline skills.  This was a good experience creating something from someone else’s design, and it showed me how much I like the development process even when I’m not the designer. It also solidified my joy in creating tech solutions for people with instructional problems.
